Please read the information on the About TSCC tab (click here) and on the Definitions tab (click here). Learning how to effectively communicate, to understand the contextualisms of self and others and to keep interactions from escalating are the focuses of this coaching/training option. How often do we hear ourselves, family members or co-workers say “You just don’t understand!! You aren’t listening to me! You don’t care!” Such words with the accompanying intonation indicate that there is ineffective communication and very little understanding of each other, the selves and the situation. Disagreements are inevitable but they do not have to escalate into full scale arguments or conflicts.

I use media to teach people about contextualism, communication, conflict resolution skills and self-awareness. I will ask you to watch a TV show or movie and discuss the situation between the characters and what or how they could have prevented a negative situation from happening or how a misunderstanding could have been avoided (see the media examples at the bottom of this page). We may also compare and contrast the social skills and contextualisms of different characters from different TV shows and movies. The TV shows and movies may also be from different eras, generations, cultures and/or subcultures, which also teach you to understand the elements of contextualism. Music videos may also be used as lesson material. While learning about contextualism and communication, perhaps you will learn about your own contextualism and develop self-awareness.

Self-awareness includes but is not limited to your level, ability or usage of (or lack thereof):
  • emotional Intelligence
  • communication skills
  • contextualism of self and others
  • interpersonal and intrapersonal skills
  • metacognition level
  • executive function
  • approachability
  • coping & resolution skills
  • conflict resolution skills
  • empathy and sympathy
  • eclecticism
  • resiliency

Please view the information on the About tab (click here).
Written communication poses a specific challenge since the reader does not hear the intonations of the sender’s voice unless the reader knows the sender very well to know the intonations the sender would use. Since intonation is not conveyed in written communication, choosing the best format, best word choices (especially the social and connotative meanings) and logical flow for your target audience are of the upmost importance as is the target's contextualism. An example of this is the effectiveness of advertising and marketing as well as business and personal emails and IMs.
I can also assist with academic English for cover letters and academic papers.

Practice and use your intermediate or better English skills through low stress and fun, games and discussion! You will get practice with reading, pronunciation, new vocabulary, intonations for intended meaning, and listening skills as well as much-needed grammar and vocabulary for interviewing and for future interactions with others. Review the reasons for effective communication here.

Modals, conditionals & hypotheticals are extremely important and necessary in daily business, business meetings, strategic planning and interviewing, as well as in the personal life. They are used in problem solving, brainstorming, strategic planning, conflict resolution, and successful interactions with others. Depending on intonation and word choices, they can also be used as insults and accusations.

Being perfectly correct in the trivia games and crossword puzzles is NOT necessary! The idea is to use your English skills, and maybe learn some new information, so receiving a 100% for correct answers is NOT the goal here. No cheating allowed, which means you cannot use Google or other internet resource to answer the questions.

VoxAdjuvo lessons may also use the same exercises that are used in Contextualism & Communication Tips to help you perfect modals, conditionals and hypotheticals.

Cancellation Policy

Meeting scheduling options:
a. You can choose to meet at the same time on the same day each week or every other week.
b. You can choose to float your lesson for each week or every other week.

  1. All meetings are on a prepaid basis. Payments must be received no later than 8 hours before the scheduled lesson time.
  2. If you purchase several lessons at one time, all lessons must be used within 3 months or 90s days from the date of purchase. If the lessons are not used, they will be forfeited when they become stale dated.
  3. If your intent to cancel is received by me at least 8 hours before the start time of your scheduled lesson (permanent or floating), then no penalty, except if it is the third consecutive cancellation (see below).
  4. If your intent to cancel is received by me in less than 8 hours before the start time of your scheduled lesson (permanent or floating), the lesson will be charged as if it was attended.
  5. For three or more consecutive cancellations, the third and any subsequent cancellations will be charged as if they were held regardless of when the cancellation notices were received by me. Due to this stipulation of my cancellation policy, please plan your vacations accordingly or choose the payment plan that will ensure you will not miss lessons.

** I do realize that sometimes circumstances beyond our control happen. Because of this, I may waive the penalty for less than 8-hour cancellation notice and/or three consecutive cancellations. Each situation will be evaluated if needed.

I'm rather flexible and quite accommodating if you communicate with me.

**There may be times when I must cancel a meeting due to personal circumstances such as doctor appointments, for emergencies with my pets and animals, for scheduling conflicts that cannot be changed, and/or for acts of Mother Nature (especially severe storms) that cause interruptions to internet and/or electricity. If I must cancel, I will try to give you the most advanced notice that I can. I will also reschedule the meeting at a mutually agreeable time.

FAQs

1. Do you offer any guarantees?
No. Since every person, all people and every situation are unique in and of themselves, it is impossible to guarantee outcomes or results.

NO GUARANTEES!!!

People are people with their own minds thus I do NOT make any guarantees about anything!

НИКАКИХ ГАРАНТИЙ!!!

У каждого человека своё мышление, так что гарантий в отношении чего-либо я НЕ даю!!!

Every person and every situation are unique. Nothing about either can be known 110%, therefore, I do NOT offer any guarantees about anything. However, my track record is quite good but not perfect.

A "mindset master" is NOT an exact science to assess situations and try to predict future situations or outcomes. I'm VERY good at what I do but I can also be incorrect.

Not all personality types work well together. It is possible that my personality traits, style & ways may not be compatible with someone else's.

With this said, I cannot guarantee that I am able to properly assist everyone.

2. Are your services appropriate for people whose native language is not English?
Yes! All my services are rendered with an ESL consideration. I am very familiar with the challenges faced by people whose first language is not English, especially those whose first languages are Russian or Spanish. Whether English-as-a-second language or not, I carefully choose my words so that my intended messages cannot be misinterpreted by the listener; an effective communication skill. In addition, during any coaching/training or professional services, if you would like, I will correct your English whether you’re ESL or not. Please be sure to indicate if you would like me to correct your English.

3. What level of English must I have?
For effectiveness, the sake of understanding, and efficiency of your time and money, if English is not your first language, then you should have at least upper intermediate level.

4. What are the internet or technical requirements?
I do not use the most advance, cutting edge technology today so that services are available to everyone and anyone. I understand that WIFI and wireless connections as well as technology, weather, geopolitical situations and international interfaces are not perfect and are subject to outside forces (including political entities who suspend internet in their country). I do not expect your internet connection and quality to be perfect. In fact, I am "old school", which means I only uses technology for communication, for payments and for learning materials. All else is still done at the human level, including scheduling.

5. How do I pay for services?
I accept USD, foreign currencies & cryptocurrencies equivalent to the listed USD amounts. There are various payment services and methods available given the current geopolitial situation (see below). If you are inside Russia with only Russian banking choices, click here for options.

All meetings are on a prepaid basis.

Payments must be received no later than 8 hours before the scheduled lesson time.

If you purchase several lessons at one time, all lessons must be used within 3 months or 90s days from the date of purchase. If the lessons are not used, they will be forfeited when they become stale dated.

6. Will I receive an invoice for services?
No. All services are on a prepaid basis in USD or its equivalent in other currencies and cryptocurrencies.
Yes. If you need an invoice for your taxes or to submit to your company for reimbursement, I will send you an invoice marked as paid.

7. How do I schedule meetings or lessons?
Even though we live in a super-modern era with amazing technology, I prefer human interaction and administration. I am “old school”; I prefer to treat people as people and not as an account number. I know and keep my schedule. If there is an error, it is due to human error, and not a glitch in the system. With different time zones and different needs as well as my case load, it is much easier for me to manually maintain my own schedule and to schedule lessons and meetings. I only use data messengers to find mutually agreeable meeting times (see below).

8. How do we communicate for meetings and scheduling?
See below.

Soft Skills & Contextualism Training

Learn soft skills & contextualism through real life situations (from your life, a news story written in English and/or court pleadings from various areas of law); and/or through characters of a short story, novel, movie or TV series. I also include American profanity (bad words) because they are needed for understanding and use of English.

  • The soft skills include but are not limited to intrapersonal & interpersonal skills, communication skills, executive function, metacognition and emotional intelligence.
  • Homework for session discussions might include reading a short story or novel, reading court pleadings, watching video clips and/or reading news stories that demonstrate various definitions of soft skills vocabulary and as scenarios for applied analysis of behaviors to teach you how to understand and evaluate your and others' contextualism.
  • Communication in English is easy when interactions are good, peaceful and amicable. What happens when there is conflict? Public school English classes and ESL schools only teach academic English which doesn't teach you how to communicate through turbulent interactions. While it is much easier for two people who are ESL to resolve conflict because they have similar academic-only English knowledge, it is much more difficult to resolve conflict if one of the people is a native English speaker and one is ESL. For native English speakers, intonation and word choices can either help resolve the conflict or escalate it. Conflict resolution in English relies heavily on word choice, intonation, modal usage and emotional intelligence.
  • This option is for general knowledge of soft social skills & contextualism that you can use in your personal and/or professional lives.
  • Conflict resolution English is taught through role playing and through discussion.

Self-Awareness & English Training

via Fun Activities

This is the option for you if you just want to have fun while speaking and honing your English skills as well as finding out about your inner qualities. Games are a great way to learn about oneself. I offer a variety of fun activities for discussion, knowledge and vocabulary all whilst I correct your English errors and you evaluate your thoughts, feelings and reactions during the course of the activity. No one should be a sore loser, but a sore winner is not advisable. I also include American profanity (bad words) because they are needed for understanding and use of English.

Activities include:
  • Trivia Games: Topics include almost any subject. Most people choose food, geography, history, myths, traditions and word-related games. This option is an excellent choice for discussions and explanations as well as learning to express yourself and your opinion. It is also an opportunity to learn something new! MHC are also frequently used in this activity. For example, "I should have chosen my first answer instead of changing to!" or "I wouldn't have gotten the answer wrong if I had understood what I read"

  • Interactive Maps: Maps are great for using propositions, the use of directional words, and giving/receiving instructions/directions. Maps consist of current countries, flags and historical geography.

  • Crossword Puzzles: I give extra clues in English to help you complete a crossword puzzle in English because crosswords are difficult for people who are ESL (English as a Second Language). In some cases, I may give you the word in your native language if I can pronounce it. Crosswords are a good choice for synonyms, antonyms, spelling, and parts of speech in English. With English crossword puzzles, the answers must match the clue in number (singular or plural), in parts of speech, and in tense (past, present or future). Unfortunately, in English, many words can be 3 parts of speech like the word book.
Noun: I already read the book.
Adjective: I need a book cover.
Verb: I'd like to book a table for 8 pm tonight.

  • Scrabble: Through an online site, we play Scrabble in English. I help you make words with the letters you have. I may give you clues or hints of the words I can make with your letters, or I may actually give you the words directly. In some cases, I may give you the word in your native language if I can pronounce it. MHC are also frequently used in this activity. For example, "I wish I had had this R two words ago!" or "I wish I would have had this D two words ago!" or "I wish you wouldn't have used the spot I was thinking of putting a word!"

Challenging English Usage

  • Modals
  • Hypotheticals
  • Conditionals
  • Intonation
  • Prepositions
  • Articles (in/definite)
  • American profanity
Americans use modals, hypotheticals and conditionals with accompanying intonations everyday in almost every situation and venue including in the workplace where MHC (Modals, Hypotheticals & Conditionals) are used in planning and forecasting meetings as well as problem solving and emergency situation meetings. They are also heavily used in personal relationships, the medical realm, conflict resolution, negotiations, law and law enforcement. Not understanding MHC with the accompanying varied intonations can cause miscommunication which can cost in terms of time, money, ego and self-confidence.
I also include American profanity (bad words) because they are needed for proper understanding and use of American English.
Activities
  • Fun, funny, interesting, fantasy and/or serious MHC questions.
  • MHC questions about a movie, a short story, a video clip, a news story and/or a criminal case.

My Morality Stance

Whether the situation involves negotiations, mediation, case development or consulting/advising, I am adept at choosing my words so as to not provoke further hostility, conflict or hurt feelings. I do this through understanding each party’s contextualism while being very cognizant of my own contextualism and non-verbal communication and how they influence others' choices, the situation and my interaction style and choices. The key is in the packaging of the dialogue, offer(s), counter-offer(s) and/or advice, just like packaging is very important in advertising and marketing. I am very self-aware. I am very adept of consistent, ongoing evaluation of my own emotional intelligence and executive function in a situation. I pride myself in maintaining my composure in very stressful and tense situations which may or may not include having feuding, stressed and/or angry parties expressing their anger at me. I ignore personal insults because I know that the parties are not angry at me, but are angry at the situation and/or the other party.

In keeping with my personal morality, I use my expert skills to resolve conflict or develop a game plan to achieve a desirable situation or goal. I will try to get the best possible outcome for you but without causing undo harm or hurt to others. I will not go for the jugular of the other party or parties unless I deem it necessary based on their choices and behaviors. I assure you that I can, and I will, back someone into a corner using logic expressed in appropriate and effective words. I also am aware of the results of backing someone into a corner, therefore, if I take this avenue, I am prepared for the results. With using appropriate words afterwards and exhibiting receptiveness to resolving the issue, my logical arguments tend induce or motivate someone into finding a mutually agreeable resolution.

I admit that I have made grown men cry with my words and logic. I have honed my logic and word usage skills over almost two decades of interacting with attorneys, difficult business professionals, felons/inmates, people with various mental health issues, and one very unhinged, narcissistic and egotistical gang leader who is often violent and very unreasonable. I've backed him into a corner more than a few times until he decided that going for my jugular wouldn't yield the results he wanted. It is a form of extinguishing. It can be very effective.

    Short stories

This option is based on the traditional idea of a book club where many people read the same novel or story and then get together in a group to discuss it. Instead of a group of people, the "group" only consists of 2 people; you and me. The materials for discussion are typically short stories from different genres. Short stories work best for people who are ESL and the entire story can typically be discussed in 55 minutes, or in two 25-minute sessions.

ABOUT THE GLADSTONE GABLES SERIES

The Gladstone Gables children’s series is about four pre-adolescent students who volunteer at a horse rescue farm. The series is designed for children or for anyone who grew up with technology. The series helps the readers to see the world from a natural, non-technology perspective of the world and to foster intrapersonal and interpersonal social skills. Ten individual books are planned.

Each Gladstone Gables story…..

1) is written using correct but casual English which is used in daily interactions amongst people. The authored words and descriptions as well as the flow of logic of different processes will hopefully help young people in their future jobs by knowing how to accurately and effectively write reports and other necessary written documents.

2) includes A) one soft science lesson (mainly social psychology and metacognition, and unselfish empathy, sympathy, compassion and understanding), and B) one hard science lesson (i.e., biology, anatomy, math). Life is not all about one or the other. In my opinion, it should be an optimal blend of both logic and emotion where each contributes to the behaviors and choices of people.

3) This series attempts to increase…

Emotional intelligence

Metacognition

Communication skills

Interpersonal skills

Intrapersonal skills

Contextualism

Compassion

Self-control

Self-awareness

Self-improvement
